This one is quite obvious, but that does not stop many people from forgetting that they will need to contact the post office to make sure their address is updated and to have your mail forwarded to this new location. You can go online to update your address, but be sure to do it at least a week in advance, as this will make sure that there is no gap when your mail forwarding occurs.
Tax Agencies
Now, no one likes to think about the IRS too much, but it is essential that they have your correct address in their system. The IRS provides a simple online form where you can notify them of your change in address.
Social Security
If you are a recipient, you can fill out their change of address application online or call them at (800) 772-1213.
Utilities
As there are many utilities that we pay for to live our life, there will be multiple companies to contact about your move. They should be able to transfer your account to your new location. These utilities include:
– Gas and electric
– Phone, cable, and internet
– Water
– Etc.
Other Needs
This is another broad category, as there are many things that you may have to change the address to, but they slip your mind. This involves transferring your address for:
